The Chinbrook Dog Show was established in 2012 as a small experimental community project to organise and administer a dog show and Family Fun Day within Chinbrook Meadows.

As it was a first attempt, it was deliberately kept low key in order to gauge interest, if any, from the community. What occurred exceeded all expectations, with more than 150 dogs and their owners taking part.

Now in our 5th year, we have evolved from just a Dog Show into a Fun Day for all the family. Most of our vendors from last year are returning, along with some new ones, which include:

Family Fun Fair

Flyball Display

Quasar Tent

Home made gifts and jewellery

Tombolas

Games

refreshments

Plus lots more

(we don’t want to give too much away – you’ll have to come along on the day to find out all that’s on offer!)

We listen to all the feedback and comments from our guests and hope our improvements make for an enjoyable day. This year’s show has presented us with many challenges, and we hope you will agree we have overcome these hurdles to put on our best Show yet.

The Dog Show is run in accordance and with the support of The Kennel Club, and we are pleased to be able to offer one of their qualifying classes as part of our show. Animal welfare is top of our priorities and we have a local vet on hand to ensure the health and welfare of all the dogs. They will also be able to answer any questions you have about your pet’s health.

We are proud of what we have achieved so far, and we will keep building on the foundations we have laid. We would be delighted if you could let us know your views. We want to know what you feel is both good and bad, what we can improve on, and what you would like to see in future shows.

The Show would not be possible without our wonderful sponsors and partners, and we would like to thank them for their generosity. Please click on the Our Sponsors page for details.

I  have a brand new team working on this year’s show. Dee is our new Secretary, and Celia our new Treasurer. Both have brought lots of  new ideas which we are very excited about, and hope you will agree that 2016 will be a bigger and better Show.

I would also like to add my heartfelt thanks to the outgoing Secretary, Tricia, who has stepped down for health reasons, to Catherine our In-ring steward and prize organiser, who has started a new career and moved away from Grove Park, and to Gill, our long-standing (and long-suffering) Committee member who has had enough of me bending her ear with my crazy ideas and non-stop chatter! Gill and Tricia will both still be helping out on the day.

I am delighted to announce that Tricia, Gill and Catherine have been made Life Vice Presidents in appreciation of their services and there will be a special presentation on the day.

Thanks also go to our judge (and dog behaviour specialist), Toni Ballantyne-Clarke, who surely has the hardest job of all in picking the winners. For all dog and puppy behaviour questions, please visit Toni’s website: www.dogtrainingandbehaviour.co.uk

Finally, thanks go to everyone who attends for making our day a success and raising much needed funds for a well deserving cause, which this year again, is South East London Search & Rescue. We were thrilled to hand over a cheque last year for £1000. Hopefully we can beat that target this year!

We really hope you have a fantastic day, and may you all be winners!

Looking forward to seeing you there!
